Metropolitan Cathedral Card – Tula Moon

In stock

One of Liverpool’s iconic buildings, The Metropolitan Cathedral has been given a colourful makeover on this gorgeous card by a local Liverpool artist Tula Moon.

About The Metropolitan Cathedral

The construction of the Metropolitan Cathedral began in 1962 and was finished in 1967.
It is Liverpool’s mother church for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese.
Frederick Gibberd won the competition to design the building, which was open to everyone world wide.
Liverpool’s Catholic population dramatically increased during the Irish famine between 1845 and 1852.
It was therefore decided that there was a need for a catholic cathedral!
The Metropolitan Cathedral is built in portland stone cladding and an aluminium roof cover.
It was originally hoped that the cathedral could hold a congregation of 3,000 that could see the altar, but it was later reduced to 2,000.
